Before it was Wolf’s Fine Line Tattoo, it was Jesse’s Fine Line Tattoo. Jesse opened shop in Joliet on Jefferson Street in 1990. Wolf started working for Jess in 1992. In the same year, Jesse opened up Smoky Mountain Tattoo in Gatlinburg, TN. Wolf and Dawn bought the shop in Joliet shortly after. Thus, Wolf’s Fine Line Tattoo was born. Wolf tattooed, and Dawn pierced. They remained on Jefferson Street until 1998, and then they moved to the current location on Plainfield Road. They took pride in their shop, providing high-quality tattoo and piercing services offered with honesty and integrity in a clean environment with sterile equipment. Wolf’s Fine Line Tattoo is well known among Joliet residents; if they haven’t been in the shop, they’ve definitely driven past. For over 30 years, they served tens of thousands of customers, mainly from Joliet, but from all around the country and even from outside the country; they have definitely left their footprint. In late 2025, they decided it was time to sell the shop and begin their retirement. Julia, who started at Wolf’s in 2018, jumped at the opportunity to become the new shop owner. Julia specializes in body piercings and has always had a love for art and tattoos. Becoming the owner of Wolf’s Fine Line has been a dream come true. She plans to uphold Wolf and Dawn’s standards by continuing to deliver high-quality services while also bringing fresh ideas and slowly upgrading the shop.
